Our largest show ever!

In October 2014 we performed our largest show ever! Allo Allo by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd is a true comedy classic by anyone's standards, and a challenging show to put on! We have 18 cast members, over 400 in the audience, 50 or more props, 16 scenes and more fallen Madonnas with the big boobies then you can shake a stick at! However tough it may get during rehearsals we are all looking forward to entertaining everyone with the superb script. During the course of the production we've welcomed 7 new members to the club as well, and they have all brought energy, ingenuity and geniality to our group. Take a look at the trailer for the show for more of a taste!

We'll be making two more donations to local groups in May!

Players make charitable donations

We are very pleased to announce that during the month of November the Players committee have released funds for two charitable causes. Both donations of £100 are part of our ongoing support of good causes that have been put forward by our members. The two causes in question are as follows:'The Baby Snow Fairy Fund'- a charity that raises funds for neonatal units for premature babies here in the UK.'Standlake C of E Primary School' - this donation will go towards the development of drama at our local school, in the hope that we will both support and inspire the children, and perhaps even help to encourage the next generation of Standlake Players! Ten down...many more to go!

This September we notched up our tenth production, not including fete shows, readings etc. This October marks our fourth anniversary and we're still loving every production we work on, but we wouldn't be doing this at all if it wasn't for the support of our audiences. So we'd like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who keeps turning out to come and enjoy our shows, especially the Friends of Standlake Players. To become a Friend you don't need to pay anything, fill out a form, come to a minimum number of shows a year, in fact all you need to do is sign up to or mailing list. We'll then send you advanced warning and details of our next productions - but we promise to send less than ten emails a year!We are determined to continue creating memorable dinner theatre evening experiences for all of our audiences both now and in the years to come; and we hope that in our own little way we help contribute towards bringing the local Standlake and Lower Windrush community together, and bring a bit of fun in the process!Catch up on the latest amdram news from across the county via our Oxfordshire Drama Network RSS feed here

The Players perform for village summer fete

Once again this year the Players put on a short playlet for the villagers who attended the Standlake school summer fete. This year with the theme being the circus we decided to stage a version of Romeo and Juliet, circus style. Piccalilli Circus more was performed twice in the village hall to all those who cared to come in from the attractions on the recreational ground. We all enjoyed performing and adding to this important annual event that brings together so man from the village.
