It’s the late 1970s in suburban London, where the G‑plan furniture gleams, the Beaujolais is chilling and the neighbours are desperately keeping up appearances in Mike Leigh’s iconic Abigail’s Party. As the gin and tonics flow and the “nibbles” go round, small talk sours into hilariously excruciating warfare over class, taste and marriage, turning a simple drinks party into a gloriously uncomfortable night to remember.
